My son's dr. recommend adding 2 tsp per ounce of formula for his acid reflux condition. I am having a horrible time getting it to come out of the Playtex fast flow and the Avent fast flow nipples. What bottles/nipples work best when adding the cereal? Thanks

No...I can't feed him with a spoon. He is four weeks old! And yes, I was advised to thicken the FORMULA and put it in a bottle.
For the rest of you...this is the first time I have ever asked a question and I appreciate your responses.

You want to get a thicker nipple that doesnt squish like silicon does. Also you can get a needle hot and poke the opening and make it bigger. You just have to watch that it doesnt tear later. I use playtex ventair bottles number two nipple, never had a problem.

I would recommend buying the formula that already has cereal added to it. Bottles usually aren't that great for feeding cereal through. Or you could just but a bigger hole in the nipple of the bottle and see if that helps.
good luck to you.

You'll need a X or Y cut nipple.
ETA: Enfamil makes a formula now that is thickened for reflux babies.
To the other posters she said her baby need his formula thickened because of acid reflux, so he can keep it down! That's the only reason to put cereal in formula.

Actually what i always done with that situation was just use one nipple that i already have and get a sterilized sewing needle and poke a larger hole in the nipple, because i tried finding a nipple that would work for formula/cereal feedings and had no luck. My mom actually did the same thing for me when i was a child. Try it and see for yourself!!!

I could never find a cereal bottle. My friend had one when her kids were little, but I haven't seen them anywhere. Just make the nipple of one bottle a little bit bigger and keep that one for the cereal and you can always keep making the whole bigger as the cereal gets thicker.

I used a cereal feeder when I began small doses of cereal to help my son sleep through the night. Check these out to get an idea what I am talking about. Good luck with your little one.

Take a small knife & cut an X in the top of the nipple...works everytime.

i have never heard of any doctor saying to put cereal in a bottle, all doctors I have ever talked to have handed me literature on why you DON"T put cereal in a bottle. Spoon feed him and then give him the bottle.
