Perhaps she got it from school where, at one time, the law forbade Politics and Politicians. Let's keep the children innocent as long as we can. No wonder some of them get their heads screwed up. I wouldn't have known the answer to her question but would have asked where she got it from. I'd be interested to know how the law stands now. Why frighten children who really are not old enough to understand?

To be honest in the near future probably not. There are racial tensions all over the country but the numbers are simply not enough to cause a social uprising. There are going to be riots and terrorist attacks in the UK in the future but they have been happening for years.
The present government of both the UK and especially the U.S. seem to believe that terrorism did not exist until five or six years ago. Well....Ireland has been ripped apart by terrorost attacks since the 1970's and The I.R.A. were hitting major UK cities on a seemingly weekly basis. Glasgow has seen secterian riots for years, we've had the Toxteth, Brixton and poll tax riots as well as football hooligans tearing up the country, all in the last 30 or so years. We always have dealt with it.
I cant answer why a seven year old is asking those sorts of questions. My answer to her would be "probably not". By and large the population simply does not care about politics anymore to go and get angry about it. You will occastionaly get people like the BNP or those idiots that were in Finsbury park mosque trying to stir things up but Enoch Powell and Oswald Mosely have already tried it.

Don't know why she asked, but that is certainly an intelligent question for a 7 year old, its good that she is thinking about the world around her, although at 7, lets hope she can enjoy her childhood and not have to worry about the awful state of the world. Personally, I think the people suffer from too much apathy and hopelessness to rise up against any of the many terrible aspects of current political & social life... but I would be the happiest person on the planet if there was one.

Only if changes are not made to the way the country is governed. The UK in modern times has come close to falling apart and being ungovernable. We are now back in a crisis. It is all down to how the government handles things. At present the government seems to believe that spying on everyone is the only solution.

It is extremely difficult to sustain revolutionary feelings past tea time in the United Kingdom in general and in England in particular. As for the "true British", I live in hope that they will all emigrate to Australia where they will be mocked as smelly, whingeing Poms...
