I have one - I can tell you - it's plenty powerful enough. Any bike over 600cc can do that sort of thing.
The one thing that differs between the 650R and - for instance - the Ninja 636 or ZX-6R is that the 636 and ZX-6R are much more responsive to the throttle. These are both inline 4s, an they're built for speed.
The 650R is a parallel twin, which has a somewhat slower response - lower revs/rpms but is very torky - which is what you need for good wheelies!
I highly recommend one, but don't trash it!

The Kawi 650R is meant to be a good entry level middleweight bike. It actualy shares very little with the ZX-6R or RR as it has a very simple somewhat more forgiving suspension without all the suspension settings and detail. This bike also has a alot more docile engine with the powerband mover way farther down in the RPM band. It's more like a ex250/500 on roids. Most stunt bikes are 600's though. The Honda CBR line and the ZX6R kawis seem to be a couple of the big favorites. Most of your stunting ability will come from changing sprockets to have a lower gearing.

It's plenty powerful for wheelies and stunts, but 750's or 900's are more suitable, as they have better power to weight.
If you are looking for a good 600 or 650 stun bike, something like the Bandit would probably be a better choice, they go up on the back wheel easily enough, but dont cost as much, and you dont have to worry about damaging the fairing, as it has none. You can always get crash mushrooms for the sports bikes, but they dont always prevent the fairings.
Alternatively, if you can find one, and can afford it, in my opinion, the best 600-650 sports bike is the Bimota Supermoto, they handle like they are stuck to the road, and go stupidly fast. The flip side is, i wouldn't even dream of doing stunts on mine, as i'd cry if it got a scratch on it, as its such a beautiful bike. I do the odd wheelie, but only when i know the road is clear, dry, and even, and very little wind.
Good luck whatever you decide, but remember, you are most vulnerable on a bike when you are not in total control of a bike, so make sure you get one you KNOW you can control.
Happy riding. =)

The Ninja is a very good bike but if you want a great one check out the Ducati Monsters. Even the 600 and small will give you a great wheelie.
