You would need to find out if the gauge is the problem or if it is the wires that run to the regulator. To test the gauge, remove it from the dash and check it with a volt meter. or take 2 wires and attach it to the battery of the car. If the gauge moves then the gauge is good and you would need to start chasing wires. If the gauge does not move then you need a new one.

The gauge is part of the instrument cluster, and the gauge itself could be at fault, or the gang-plug at the cluster could be, OR the most likely event is that the fuse(s) is/are blown. Check the fuse under the dashboard listed as INSTR., If OK, then look out under the hood for each of two wires, with very LARGE sections of rubber, about 1-1/2" long, one near the firewall, above the distributor area, slightly to the right (passenger's) side. Pull the rubber sections apart, and check if the glass fuses are blown. The other looks just exactly like it, and is usually up front, near the radiator support, above the steering gear in a bundle of wires. Check that fuse also. They are called "Shunt" fuses and are there to protect the gauges during heavy charge/discharge (Jump-Starting??)
Good Luck

The gauge is probably at fault, unless the wire leading to it is bad. If it is a volts gauge it is measuring battery voltage as measured across the terminals, if it is an amp meter it is measuring amps in series with all circuits except the starter.

it quite is conceivable the AMP gauge isn't wied wisely.verify to work out no count if it quite is attached in series on a warm+ cord.If one facet is going to floor that may not artwork.Take a try easy and spot in case you have voltage latest with key grew to become on.

if its the origanals you cant get them to work . try to find used ones that look like them or buy one and stick it on the dash. i live on a race track here in virginia i have a old ford truck volt gauges dont work on it eather . they have truck shows here all the time . most of them are just simply to old. and very costly if you find a origanal. youre luck to have half of them working

If you have checked the wires, and they are good, you may have to replace the gauge.
