Overrated??! Jeff Beck Group, John Baldry, The Faces, Rod Stewart Album, Gasoline Alley, Every Picture Tells a Story, Never a Dull Moment. If you're simply judging Rod Stewart from 1980 on, thats very unfortunate. After 1980, he undeniably lost his touch.

He is the most prolific singer on the world stage today. He is also courageous, daring and not hesistant to try new styles or genres of singing (evidenced by his switch from hard rock to blues to unplugged to American songbook and back around again 360 degrees). This has enabled him to gain a much wider, appreciative audience (unlike some of the inane comments from respondents in this section -- editorial comment!)

Basically he's an "entertainer", that has always sang many different kinds of music, rock-n-roll, blues, pop and more recently American standards. I don't (and never) have really "associated" him with any one kind of music. I enjoy his raspy voice and entertaining persona regardless of the genre.
