That all depends on who you ask.

Biblically , our innocents was lost in the garden and we knew we were naked Man fashioned leaves but God provided a lamb and covered them.

Some would say for warmth , but in tropic jungles of Africa and south America people that live in the remote areas still cover their genitals if not the breast. Even in the jungles of the Philippines, The same is seen.

No matter where in the world you look people at least partially cover their nakedness.

Too many thousands of years for any recorded answer other that the Bible.

We wear clothes because we are ashamed of what we look like, it is called being modest. It all started when Adam and Eve ate the sacred fruit in the Garden of Eden. Since then, people wear clothes.
And would you really want to see everyone naked?

Africa-prime example of why we wear cloths. You see they run around with di**s swinging and boobies flopping, to me thats easy access to get stuck by someone, you don't want to be stuck by "if you get my drift" and you see the AIDS epidemic over there, that may be a great contribution. They need to put some cloths on. So that is why its probably a good idea to cover up, men cannot take that much excitement all day, everyday!

Well, when it is cold outside, we have to wear them for the warmth, but aside from that, you are saying if the weather is ok, why don't we just run around naked like the African Tribes do? I think there is no good reason except that it is a marketing thing to get people to spend money unnecessarily. And to further complicate it they get people to buy more and more clothes for the sake of 'fashion'. It is just a further demonstration on how stupid and easily maniuplated people are.

Because it is really, really cold here in Northern Canada.

It started out as a warmth thing and has turned into a modesty thing for some cultures. There are still cultures in warm place where they wear very little clothes at all.

The first clothing was animal skins, worn to keep the body warm. Clothing was a necessity. Without it, mankind would have possibly disappeared. As time passed, clothing evolved from a necessity to fashion.

We wear clothes...

1. To avoid bodily harm.

This includes protection from bad weather, certain working conditions, perverts gaining easier access, etc., etc. In some cases, hygiene may be an issue, such as with venereal disease. Interestingly enough though, bodily harm is not as much as an issue as you might think. That is, you can often go nude in various circumstances that you might otherwise consider harmful when nude.

2. To avoid upsetting or offending another.

In our forced clothing environment, almost everyone learns to see nude bodies as offensive and unacceptable. In general, they usually learn to associate it primarily with sex, perversity, or loose living. They also learn to fear nudity. In a "clothing optional" environment, mere nudity does not offend people because they see nude bodies as healthy, natural or "normal," and acceptable.

3. To avoid tempting another to lust in some way.

When you are not used to seeing nude bodies, the mere sight of one may tempt you to lust in some other way. Of course, sensual indulgence is partly a byproduct of character or condition, so chances are high that merely putting clothes on will not help. In fact, clothing may actually enhance sensual indulgence by creating greater curiosity about the parts being hidden. Think about how we respond to an item, or gift, covered in wrapping paper.

As an aside, as with any good thing, some people do misuse nudism/naturism. Some use it for their own perverse desires, using it as a means of indulging in sensuality, and in my opinion, such people are not true representatives of nudism/naturism.

For some reasons but the underlying reason is because of Adam and Eve and how they betrayed God. But also for other various reasons as well. For style, for warmth and not to scare other people such as fat people without any clothes. Yeesh that gives me the shivers.....lol
