D B stood for David Brown who both the comp\any. Formerly he made tractors under the trade name David Brown Alexander who had a factory near where to I live in Manchester, England. There are still clubs for enthusiasts of David Brown Tractors.

It stands for David Brown, who bought the company in 1947.
The naming scheme was resurrected for the DB7 in 1994 to remind people of the heritage of the DB4, 5 and 6.
