Very cynical indeed. I believe most politicians have great intentions (on either side of the aisle) when running for office. Once in the legislature, even at the state level, it is difficult (near impossible) to push your own agenda. And for good reason - we are a government of the people - not of the few. Leaders are elected from very distinct districts with different cultures, values and ideals. Good leaders must find a compromise to balance their agenda and that of other districts.

No, that's exactly how it works. Like the Dems are going to actually pull out of Iraq...there is too much money to be made. We seen the same thing with Nixon and Viet Nam. Promises, promises, promises...

Senators and Representatives that vote down a minimum wage increase yet give themselves a pay increase make me want to vomit.

They don't get rich in politics. They either are already rich or the riches come later. Yes to the other two provisions.
