Most of the tractors at that competition (at the end of the show)had 3 Helicopter Engines (and four 3,000Hp V8s per tractor) and up to 12,000 Hp in the Unlimited class with huge tires. Jesse James made a Tractor Pull out of 2 blown big blocks on a small chassis that equaled app. 2,000 Hp together. The tires were about half the size of the other tractors and Jesse's tractor made a "full pull" (which those super 9-12,000 Hp giant Tractor Pulls cound not make) with the same sled. HOW DID JESSE JAMES OUTPULL THE SUPER TRACTORS? Can anyone explain the physics behind this?

The slide on the trailer slides forward as the sled is pulled. The regular pulling vehicles have the slide go forward at a faster rate than the one Jessie pulled and it did not have the 4000 lbs of weight on it that the regular pulling sleds have on them.

If I were to guess, I'd say it were the tires. Smaller tires are easier to turn and get up to a higher rotation speed, along with, I would probably guess that Jesse James's overall speed was probably faster then that of the bigger tractors.

I did not see the tractor pull, but that would be my guess.

It is all about traction, not power. Smaller diameter tires require less torque to turn. If the tires are too big, then the treads don't bite in. If they are too small, they dig holes. Another thing spinning tires just dig holes. Non slipping friction is better When the tires slip the friction is less. Some guys don't care about winning, they just want to make noise and throw dirt. Either one is fun.

Not using the horsepower the right way. There are more than one reason for his win.
