I'm sory that your marriage is at an end but thankfully its amicable. I would start by Calling you county clerks office it will be under goverment listings most likley. Ask them what the filing fees are for Divorce and how to get the forms. Depending on the laws in your country and county you may or may not have to get a lawyer. I only recommend getting a lawyer if there are properties or monies or debts you cannot agree on who's going to get, otherwise they take a fairly large chunk of money for their efforts. Here in the states they often have classes that teach you how to fill out the paperwork properly and there is a book out called "Divorce for Dummy's" I have a friend that used that and he and the ex saved a bundle and it was just as quick as if they had hired a lawyer. You may also have legal-aid offices near you and for a small fee they will help you fill out the forms and file them (much cheaper than a traditional lawyer and they are often times law students. Good Luck

it varies...the more involved the more time the higher the fees...my ex was an a*shole and i had good grounds to divorce him...because of this i was able to put a clause in the papers that if he contested the divorce in any way he had to pay my costs as well as his...he was a tight git anyways and so i got my divorce uncontested very quick easy and minimal costs as nothing contested,go and see a solicitor for a half hour free consultation...most of them do this now and talk to them about it...if youre agreed then it'll be quick and easy anyways..good luck

Of course you have property...perhaps not a house, but ANYTHING bought in the course of the marriage is marital property and should be divided 50:50 by value. This includes pension plan values, stocks and shares, household goods, cars etc REGARDLESS of whose name they are in. The only items not included are personal possessions, gifts and any inherited money if maintained separately.
I had a so-called simple divorce (Scots law) because we had no kids and the property divided very simply...until HE decided to dig his heels in and start delaying everything.
So the bad news is that it ended up costing me around £140, 000.
No fun!!
The GOOD news is that it was worth every penny to get rid of him.

Hi I live in Australia and my Partner recently got a divorce it cost him $330 to file for one and $90 for court costs. This should be all as he did not have a lawyer. And as long as your husband wants one it should be ok. You can certainly keep his last name. He can't take it away unless you let him.
Good luck.
P.S It should take 1 day and 1 month after you file that you will be offically divorced.

the cheapest solution would be to live apart for two years and divorce on those grounds.
it took me next best thing to two years to get divorced and my solicitor was so incompetent that i had to change to another one.
at the time all i wanted was to be free of my ex but looking back now we were stupid to fight as we could have both saved ourselves over £2000 pounds each and a lot of heart ache

have you ever performed any looking on line, including your county's relatives family members internet site? i do no longer understand approximately Texas, yet in another states, it is not considerable the place you have been married, as long as a minimum of one companion has lived in that county for a particular quantity of time, you are able to record there. you will have the potential to get a dissolution, via fact which you have agreed to each thing, yet i'm uncertain if it is obtainable in Texas. you are able to order the types on line, yet pay attention, many are no longer state particular - the enterprise you're identifying to purchase them from in basic terms types interior the call of the county, and your county could decide for diverse types.
