The representatives don't represent the people, the represent the party. The party caters to the corporations, special interests and lobbyists that contribute to their national and state funds.
If a person is happy with the way the government is running the reelect their incumbent politician, who will spend another term in office not representing them.
We buy the act because the system appears to work well enough, we are in the best country in the world. Why fix it if it isn't broken?
In theory nobody likes the system, but they sure like the results.
Who cares if the system is legitimate anyway? If the USA is the best country in the world and remains there it is good enough for most Americans.

Every system in the world starts by having a party pick who will run. Then the votes go to the people. The majority of voters in every country vote for the party they associate with, even if it doesn't truly represent their best wishes.
As far as the balloting, all elections throughout the world are rife with fraud, some more subtle than others but it exists. But since the devine right to rule is no longer an option elections are the best thing going.
Besides, how do they prevent fraud and assure a fair vote in your country? You hate our country's system but never mention how they do it in yours.

I agree it is just song and dance. The political parties hand pick the canidates they want to back and get on the ballot. It is all set in advance. It is analyzed to death and they push these canidates down our throats.
Example: Back about 17-18 yrs ago in Lake Tahoe, I got involved with a nice professional couple and learned he was going to run for President at the next election. They asked for my support and help with the campaign. I was young, curious, and liked them. I knew they did not have a chance but I said yes. It was rather short lived but I learned some important things
Here is just a few:
Each Presidential candidate could debate in DC. He went for the debate and was run off. They would not allow him in to speak but he was a Presidential Candidate. Men threw him up against the wall and threatened him. He had to stand outside the door while the debate went on without him. He was appaled.
He was given no support by his party, no backing and no money, he had to raise his own war chest (and sadly it was not much, no competition for the others running). Once his party knew he had no chance of competting they turned against him. He then changed and went Independant.
He spoke around the country to voters who had blinders on. They were voting Reb or Dem and nothing more. It was useless but we pushed on.
So I believe voting works but politics does not. We need to abolish the two parites or all parties and find a better fair system to put the best man in office. Right now the Rep Party has control of the house and senate and with a Rep President it has been out of balance. My Army son who is serving in Iraq begged me to vote Democrat to get a balance again. He is right. The President has too much power the way it is. Lets vote for the PERSON not the PARTY.
By the way the person I knew for the run for Predident was Gene Smith (no not the movie but what a coincidence). Bet you never even heard of this wonderful man.

You have a nice rant going there, but what is the actual question? And the politicains are lining their pockets with cash, we are off the gold standard, and have been for a while.
Just out of curiousity, are your country's elected official as corrupt as you claim our's are? I'm willing to bet they are. Where are you from anyway, India, Mexico, where?

It is so sad that
one: you have no education of US political history,
two: you have no faith in a system that has worked for over 200 years,
three: Your grasp of English grammar is so very, very lacking.

Don't you tire of asking this question every day? If your country does it better tell us how they do it. Your daily spam is tiresome, especially because the entire premise is so contrived.

Does it even matter...the way our system works you can win the popular vote and still lose the election(based on electoral vote).
