Aww, sticking by the old "every cloud has a silver lining" phrase eh? There aren't any, but good luck trying to find some.

Well truly there is no positive to any addiction be it video games or not. Moderation is the key to everything. Now there are some benefits but there are also some major downfalls. The socializing online can be seen in two different ways. Many people might say that you don't have friends because you're not hanging out with them in real life but you are in a game. Well that's fine and dandy but what happens when you get away from the computer and you have to interact with all the other's in the real world? Some people have trouble with that because they only social interaction they have is online.

Well, you could always be addicted to something bad! Or what is other people's opinion of bad, anyways.
Everyone has their addiction, be it work, religion, drugs, alcohol, sports. I'd say video games have a leg up on drugs & alcohol!
Supposedly, video games help with hand / eye coordination, and problem solving. That's alot more positive than getting mauled and concussioned on a football field or ODing on crack.
Or standing on a street corner holding a sign that says "THE END IS NEAR! REPENT!"

Ability to problem solve, develop reflexes (including hand to eye coordination), if you play co-op it encourages teamwork, accepting new challenges, and can help sharpen focus on tasks.
