Yamuna is a tributary of the Ganga. The Yamuna arises from the Yamunotri in the Tehri Garhwal district whereas the Ganga arises at Dev Prayag as the combined waters of the rivers bhagirati (thru Gangotri), Mandakini and Alaknanda. The two rivers Yamuna and Ganga flow almost parallelly and enclose the region known as the Doab.
