As I could not get it working, I have removed my DVD, put My CD R/W in the system, with the jumber placed on Master. It is a burner ( on the drive it says "LITON CD R/W". The drive appears under the window explorer. Under the control panel, it also apperars and indicates that the drive is working properly.
I can play music CD on it, and read data. But I can not write to it.
My system does not even recognize it as a burner. When I open the media player and select burn, it tells me that it can not find a burner. When I right click on a file and select send, it does not even bring up the drive as a selection. Neither can I drag-drop a file into it. I appreciate any help.

I have two burners - a Samsung and a Dell.

If you want to use a CD as a floppy, you have to:
>use CD/RWs
>they must first be formatted with the software that came with your particular burner.
Each of my burners has its own software.

Samsung uses Nero.
Dell uses DLA.

They work fine so long as they remain in your PC, however, if you wish to take them to another PC, you will not be able to read them unless the receiving PC has your burner's "reading" program. This is a small program that you can download from your burner's website.

I hope you have a manual. That's how I found out about it. Now that flashdrives and external hard drives are available, I no longer use my burner to create data disks.

Go to the device manager and uninstall the drive, then reboot the computer.
