My cycle has never been a set 28 to 30 days- more like 40, so I wondered if that affects when I will be due.

yes it will your due date would most likely change next time you go to the doctor (i got four kids i know a few thing about this)

i would imagine so as you probably know you ovulate two weeks before your period is due so counting from when your last period was would be different for you, the date that you get at your scan will be more accurate, check out this site, you can work out your dates in different ways on it, www.twoweekwait.com
