I love my special friends :) Even my live-in of many years knew before he moved in that I had "I Love You, Lee" as one of my very best friends!!!! NO jealosy allowed.
Lee & I always do something together for Birthdays or Xmas.. maybe not on Xmas or on the acutal Bday... go see a movie, go to a concert, go get dinner together, help each other pick out what to buy with money we were given... all kinds of fun things....
At other times we do things as a group of 4 (with his wife & my live-in boyfriend)
Hold these friendships as MOST DEAR.. they are WONDERFUL

i wouldn't advise on asking what your friend wants. if shes special you would know what she likes. I think the cheapest presents are the best. by that i mean, something u made yourself.
I'm sure with the cold and tiring weather she deserves to relax, so without splashing out as a spa, get a basket and fill it with tiny presents like...
a cute lil teddy
a mug full of chocs/marshmallows + a hot choc sachet
a CD of her fave songs,
a photo book
her fave book/DVD
some beauty treats,
an eye mask
a hot water bottle/slippers
make (or buy) a tin of cookies
make (or buy) her a bracelet
just mix and match a couple of things, wrap the basket in cellophane and tie a ribbon round the top. its much more interesting than one expensive gift.

If she has a garden, how about a rose bush? David Austin is a brilliant rose breeder - websites in many different countries - and they sell roses established in pots and ready to be transplanted into the garden (yes, even at Christmas - I received a couple two years ago and they're fine).
Or if you know that she has a photograph that's very special to her, could you steal it without her noticing and get it enlarged (if necessary) and beautifully framed?
Hope that helps.

How about gloves and scarf to match? Too ordinary? Well, I'd sure love new pyjamas. But sounds more like sth my mom would give me. I don't know, something she likes, like does she decorate a tree? maybe nice decorations for that? Then again, jewllery is always the best for a girl, don't get a ring, a necklace which suits her taste, something original, I think that's best.

How about a really nice book - one with great photos. There are a few out on the Earth, Nature etc - anything like that which she is interested in?
Books are very neutral, but if you buy one you've chosen because either you've read it and you like it or it's something which she would be interested in - she'll appreciate the thought!

I like necklaces. You don't have to know her size, or if she's got pierced ears :-)
You can get something sweet without being too "mushy" or whatever. And jewelry tends to be something people cherish and remember.
Spend some time paying attention to what she already wears. (Or, if you go to the mall together, what does she look at.) Pick something that you think she will like and that you like for her. (If she has a good girlfriend who can keep a secret, you can enlist her help - gals love to do this!)
Best of luck!

ask her what she would like for an xmas pressie cos it all depends on the girl, just make it seem like your asking what she wants from someone else

Buy a watch. Anne Klein always has reasonable and slick styles with class. The watch represents time and you can make something up like her friendship to you is 'timeless OR in hopes of keeping her friendship until the end of time .....I did it and it was a great idea! good luck!

Buy some cheap flights away somewhere for the two of you. Or a nice watch is always cool.
