this is quite a easy task so dont worry
first go to start>control panel>sounds>and then check first that the sound level is up and that mute is not ticked as this will stop the sound
if there is nothing wrong there go to the next tab on sounds(playback) and check the name of the hardware used for sounds, there will be a drop down box at the top ,click this and if there are more than one name there try a different name and see if this works
if this dosent work than it seems that your sound card or sound driver has been deleted or corrupted,so what you need to do is go to control panel>system>hardware>device manager>sounds and video, game controllers>and click the name of your sound card and a box will appear with "this device is not configured or dosent have all its drivers",underneath this it will say re-install driver.click this and follow instructions, windows will then look for the driver by itself
however if it dosent find it you will have to go to your sound cards website and find the driver for the sound card you have
this is quite a tedious task so if you let me know your sound cards name and model number,or if your sound is part of a chipset(a name for a whole collection of drivers, graphics, sound, ethernet, that all are part of your motherboard)let me know the name of your motherboard, this can be found on some documentation that came with p.c,it could have a name like a/bit..intel, ect
so if you cant fix it by a driver update, find the names and numbers and i will look for the driver myself
good luck
