Loud music will cause tinnitis (ringing in the ears) and if done long and loud enough it can cause a decrease in hearing to total loss due to the nerve damage and eardrum damage.

Yes - Hearing loss is possible. other problems are : don't hear the train whistle at the crossing, don't hear the 280 lb bully when he says shut up, and unable to heae your partner when they say YES.
