Why is it important for so many young people to be trandy?

Trendy?

Because if they aren't then the kids whose parents can afford to buy then trendy and name brand clothes make fun of them. It seems to be getting worse and worse each year. Kids have to have the latest styles, they have to be thin, they have to match the right colors, I mean God forbid if they mixed blue jeans with a brown shirt...it might bring the Apocalypse sooner!

Kids need to get a grip on reality and realize that fashion isn't everything, it doesn't add years to their life span or allow them to become president of the USA. They're so materialistic.

When it comes to fashion, they feel they must follow the current trends in order to fit in with their peers. In other respects, they are struggling to be an individual. So there's a bit of conflict there. Following the fashion trends is relatively harmless, as long as the clothing is appropriate and doesn't cost a fortune. Teens have enough issues to confront without worrying about whether their parents will make a big fuss about how they dress or wear their hair, as long as they aren't too freaky or violate the school dress codes.

Young people are trying to fit into society and trend is one of the ways of acceptance by their piers. As they mature, they can become self assured enough that they won't have to "fit in" and then can develop their own style that fits their lifestyle and mode of living. This is all a learning process that most all of us have been through.....if we can just remember !

Because today's media pumps that shiznit into your young sculls full of mush that if you don't come to school with a 300 dollar pair of sneakers on your nasty stanky feet you are a looser...and like the idiots that all of you are these days, you fall for it hook line and sinker.

do you mean trendy?
its just so that we can feel confident amongst our peers. we don't want to be made fun of and dressing different can be seen as a reason to bully people.
often, those in fashion think those who are old fashioned are too poor to dress up to date.
for me i like to dress trendy because a few years back at boarding school, a girl often criticized what i wore which left me sort of traumatized about clothes.
lastly, all the advertising we are bombarded with makes as feel like we MUST have certain things.

because probably people think that life is only given once and you have to get the most out of it. being trandy is a way of enjoying the life..people want to look good and attractive, get attention from others..why not? but most people's mistake is that they try too hard...
