My daugher is wanting face painting at her birthday party, it is less than a month away and I cannot afford to pay someone to do this for me. I have tried looking on the web for different patterns and techniques but all I can find are web sites that either want you to buy a book ( I don't have time or money to do that), someone you can hire to do it for you (no money), or very elaborate face painting pictures from professionals showing off thier skills. I need to know thinsg like what paints are safe, what designs are simple ( I don't have alot of practice time) and were to find ideas for designs, tips liek how to keep the colors from bleeding into each other, etc. PLEASE HELP!!! Any ideas are appreciated.

I am a face painter and would be happy to give you some ideas. I have a few simpler ideas on my site. Yes there are more elaborate ones there also. If you would like I can send you some pictures of easier cheekart. Just email me. Also. An easy way to creat GREAT looking cheekart is to use stamps. You can use the regular foam stamps that you buy in the craft section at walmart or whatever store you prefer. Horses and unicrons are VERY popular with the little girls. I use the horse stamp and draw the horn on. I use mehron paradise paints however if it's not in your budget I did start out using regular acrylic craft paint. Most face painters start out that way. But since I actually charge for my services now I feel it is important to use the best products for my clients. If you use glittle make sure it is VERY fine glitter. If you have any other questions or would like to see other pictures please email me.

Hobby Lobby Face Paint

I did face painting at my little brothers birthday party last year...

Just go to Hobby Lobby or walmart and buy some craft paint- non acrylic.

Its best to get red, yellow, blue, white, black, brown, green, pink and purple and possibly some glitter if you have little girls. Mixing is annoying plus you may not be able to get the same color again and kids like to match their friends so most likely you will end up doing 20 of the same design.

Invest in a couple different sizes of brushes. You can use the ends of the brushes to dot small circles for eyes, spots etc.

Keep a cup of water, a mirror and plenty of paper towels around.

If you are layering colors you can blow on them to get them dry enough to were they won't bleed.

Some easy designs are hearts, balloons, flowers etc. The kids usually have random ideas if they ask for something you don't know how to do tell them you will try, in my experience they will love it even if you think it looks like crap.

Oh and Hello Kitty is super easy!!! And drawing noses and wiskers to make them cats or something is easy and popular too.

sorry if this is too much info but it really is simple and you will have a good time. Good luck!

I did face painting for kids at a get together at our church. There is paint that is made for face painting. I just did simple designs. Happy faces, butterflies, etc... If they asked for something specific I did my best. They were all happy. (-:
Relax, whatever you do will be fine.

You can get the face paint and stencils at Walmart. It is cheap and easy. You can use q-tips to apply the paint. Good luck and Happy Birthday to your daughter.
