Intellct has nothing to do with how mant facts you can sight or how fast you can do a puzzle or how socially adept you are. Inetellect is about how you process information and use information. In other words 1+1 =2 is a standard equation. If you have 1 apple and you find another and put them together then you have 2 apples. Well an intellectual may interpret this equation in another way, saying that 1+1=3 because it depends upon the definintion of 1. If 1 = a person, and you are adding them together then you are creating a third person. So an intellectual looks at things from more than one perspective but has the ability to discern which perspective needs to be used at the time of conversation. If it's a math class then 1+1=2 if it's a biology class then 1+1=3. No one can tell you that you are an intellectual you have to figure it out for yourself. A great book to reference is by Cornell West and Bell Hooks called "Breaking Bread", it talks indepth about the plight of the intellectual. This answer is somewhat involved so I guess if you can understand it then you may be an intellectual. LOL

Intellect!

Would you like to know what intellect is? Well that is another question but, seeing as it's you I shall answer it for free and save you 5 whole points.

Intellect is the ability to think; reason and understand. To comprehend and profit from experience. To be able to use your mind creatively. The capacity for rational rather than emotional thought.

Someone who continues to query questions that have already been answered. Like those who chose not to accept the world was flat and that the Sun went round the Earth. In a way this site can make minor intellectuals of us all.

I think Galileo is one of the greatest intellectuals ever. For a prime example read about him and his achievement. Also this wikipedia link describes it better than I could hope to and the many forms intellect can take.

The ability to memorize, store and make rational sense and function of whatever information gleaned from the world around them. When you can teach someone else... you know what you know, to it's proper height and measure. That makes you an intellectual...

Intellectual: 1. Of, relating to, or requiring use of the intellect.

2. Having intelligence.

Have a nice day!

It is usually people in a culture who read books and write books and think and talk about ideas, both political and cultural.
For example they are interested in what is on NPR and not what paris hilton is doing. They are interested in concepts and not celebrities. They are interested in ideas that change the world.
They originate new directions in art, literature, architecture, science, etc. Usually educated.

being able to USE- EVERYTHING you learned or read!

You may know/read a lot of things, but if you don't use it and it just 'grows molds' inside your head then you're no different from someone who dooesn't even read at all.
