My fifteen month old daughter has a horrible diaper rash unlike anything I've ever seen. It's got bleeding spots now. It started about a week ago and just doesn't get any better. Yesterday she developed a rash on both of her cheeks (face) and under the inner underside part of her left leg. This morning she woke up with rash under both eyes. I have an appointment with her urgent care physician at 2:30 but does anyone have any clue what could be wrong with her? My mom said something about fifth's disease- what's that? No new soaps, no one else with rashes, I've given oatmeal baths daily sometimes several times daily and we've tried numerous creams and pastes including monistat 7 externally because we thought it could have been a yeast infection. Also have used yogurt because we thought it was yeast.

Everything is the same including the diapers which are Pampers just like they have been since birth. Plus she's in the process of potty training so she doesn't really wear diapers that much- she wears regular cotton undies for toilet training.

No fever and no sickness such as runny nose or anything. She seems perfectly happy- it isn't phasing her at all! No new laundry soaps. We were sick two weeks ago with a cold which is when the rash first started to show itself but the next week it was fully there and not planning on going anywhere. And now this week it began spreading. When we were all sick with the cold we all had orange juice and I thought that was why there was a rash- the acid in the OJ but it wouldn't still be there if it were a reaction to the acid, right?

The doc is really your best bet.
There is a trigger there somewhere and doc will help you determine where.
My son had allergic reactions just like that to antibiotics and immunizations.
Have you switched detergent?
It could be an allergy to something in the creams.
Hopefully shes potty trained, but I would suggest turning up the heat in the house a little and letting her run around naked to air out the spots. If nothing else, just to help her feel better.
Don't put anything else on the spots. You could be unintentially drying them out too much. Don't bathe her anymore... Babies shouldn't be bathed every day, it's too damaging to their skin.
You didn't mention if she's acting sick or if theres a fever... that could determine if it's illness (bacteria, viral) or skin sensitivity.
Good luck Mom... it's one in many things that you'll encounter
:-)

Can Diaper Rash Spread

It probaby is a yeast diaper rash, there is a cream you can get from your doctor that will clear it up in a few days. Try to keep the area dry and clean(let her have her diaper off as long as possible).

First of all stop using all the things you are using. Oatmean could it worse as it is coarse in texture. If it is spreading she has got something contagious. Proper handwashing, try to expose it to air as long as possible. If you have a space heater and if you could do it safely set her up in front of it but make sure you are with her the whole time to prevent any chance of overheating or accidental burns. Also you could put the hairdrier on the low heat- air setting and doing that several times a day.
