Typically, a pelvic exam, height and weight check, blood pressure, temperature, breast exam, pap smear, bloodwork (many many tests) and collect a urine specimen. Fill out forms and answer questions about your medical history and that of your partner and your family's history.
Answer questions about possible birth defects in family members and relatives, etc.
Some doctors do an ultrasound and/or check for fetal heartbeat, yet others will schedule it for a separate appt. or do it later.
I highly recommend reading the book "What to Expect When You're Expecting." Tells you what the doctor will do at each visit, etc. and answers every possible question about pregnancy you may have. Information is a very good thing.

I use military health insurance/doctors so it may be a little bit different, but I can tell you what they did for me at my 10 week appointment. (I went in about 7 weeks to an "orientation" - they talked about basic nutrition and drew blood.) At my first appointment with my actual doctor they did a PAP, pelvic, and breast exam. He also told me that all of my blood work came back normal. He got out the Doppler and found the baby's heartbeat, although he said that it wouldn't be unusual to not be able to hear it at that point. After all that he left so that I could get dressed and I went into his office so he could answer any questions that I had. He also told me about some of the other tests that were available and when they would be offered (triple screen test, ultrasound, etc). I think whether or not you get an ultrasound depends on your insurance and your doctor. My insurance only covers one ultrasound unless you're high risk, so I won't get mine until 18-20 weeks. But I have known lots of people who had ultrasounds at their first appointment. If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask, they've heard them all before. They are there to help you and make you feel comfortable and happy with your pregnancy. Congrats and good luck!

I am 10 weeks too and had my first booking in app yesterday. They take details such as weight, height, personal stuff, and BLOOD!!! Im seriously needle-phobic and they took so much I thought I didn't have any left! my b/f was pulling silly faces at me to distract me!! No ultrasound until 20 weeks UNLESS u pretend u don't know the last date of period, then they will send u for a dating scan!!! a bit naughty I know but if u wanns see your baby early.... I am in UK, don't know if its different elsewhere, but they didn't give smear test or anything like that!
It was fine tho, just routine. Good luck
angry..bish - Im so sorry to hear that. Ive been following your situation for a few weeks hoping everything would be fine. My thoughts are with u, b strong

It's actually kind of anti-climactic. They take your vitals as usual (weight, blood pressure, heart rate), and do a blood test to confirm the pregnancy. That's about it. They may try to find the heartbeat, but don't be afraid or disappointed if you don't hear it -- it's a little early for that. Typically you can hear the heartbeat (with the handheld thing they have at the office) around 12 weeks. With my second baby, my first appointment was a 10 weeks and we couldn't find the heartbeat. The doctor let me come back in two weeks because she knew I couldn't stand to wait four weeks to hear it for the first time. : )
Good luck!

First visit isn't really nothing.
Pee in a cup and ultrasound with the wand they put in you down there, so they can get a look at the baby.
This site has a list of alot of pregnancy sites. I've been doing alot of looking around too, to find out just how it all works, since my wife is going to have a baby.

often while you're that youthful you would be able to desire to have a parent with you. although, some physicians make exceptions. Your scientific expert provides you with yet another being pregnant attempt to verfiy, verify your temperature, blood tension, calculate your possibly due date, and with any luck prescribe you prenatal supplementations. Your scientific expert will then ask you approximately any questions or concerns you have. you will could desire to make an appointment with an OB gyn for sometime around the 8-12 week mark. it is once you will have your ultrasound to pay attention the pulse and get greater info on the being pregnant. ultimate of luck to you.

it's mostly like all other 'regular' visits. they will do a pap smear and take blood and urine to confirm the pregnancy. Depending on the office, they might do an ultrasound, or they might just listen to the baby's heartbeat.
Don't worry about it. It's really routine and it won't hurt at all. Congrats!

you have to tell the doctor what you feel. the doctor can not guess accurately your condition. you need to tell him your healthy history frankly. then the doc can assess the information and symptoms for any illness. in the absence of illness the doctor will check that your pregnancy is and the baby is okay. anyway you have to take off your clothes on examining you. God bless all.

They are going to get a medical history, take your blood pressure, pulse and temp., then blood test to see if you have anemia, then a urine test, and a physical exam, weight and height
They are going to give you some brochures with advise and give you a follow up appointment.
