Windows 98 Second Addition is the first one to offer USB port operation per the lit and my experience - has a lot more drivers and does a better job of plug and play - haven't used it in years but preferred to everything between it and XP was very stable and in its day a great step forward - W95B was good on old low cap laptops but Win98SE was quicker and more stable - easier to start and to repair - sometimes I miss DOS tho.

Please try to give more details.

USB support became integrated in MS Windows since Windows 98SE (second edition). For Win 98 first edition it was possible to get it working by installing manufacturer's drivers but could be problematic.

Note: Most USB devices are made especially for PCs unless clearly noted. This is because, even if both MAC and PC use the same USB standard, there may not be any drivers for the MAC to support the device.
