There used to be a frequent guest on the Ed Sullivan show who would spin plates on poles. He would get a bunch of them spinning and then run from plate to plate to keep them going. While he was spinning his plates the orchestra would play a fast, urgent piece that became so synonymous with spinning plates that to this day that music is played whenever someone is portrayed as doing something fast-paced or hectic.

What was the name of this music?

Da Judge got it first. It's times like these that make me realize that Y A! is a truly awesome service...

This act belongs in the 'Show-Biz Hall of Fame'! Andy Martello has revived a classic from the days of Vaudeville. You'll feel like a kid again when you watch the hilarity and suspense of the PLATE SPINNING act. Those of you who remember the Ed Sullivan Show...and are still with us, will remember this as one of your favorites.

The PLATE SPINNING act works well as a 10-minute feature or as the exciting finale to a 45-minute show. Andy uses REAL PLATES and many hilarious sight gags as he attempts to spin 10 plates before they break. Both kids and adults wait in suspense to see the fantastic outcome!

The plate spinner would always be accompanied by "The Saber Dance" music.

Not sure but could it be The Flight of The Bumblebee? This is usually played to a fast pace.

I'm not sure what the title of the piece is, but it's some concerto. Check around some websites that let you play sample of orchestra/band music. And please post the answer when you find it because now I'm going nuts trying to think of it... I played the song in my middle school band YEARS ago and my memory has failed me.

I know what music that you're talking about and I can hear it in my head. I don't know what it's called, but, you should try a music store (one that carries sheet music and instruments) and ask if they know what it is. Many times, someone there would know from playing different instruments.
