Dear sierra234,
People will be "allowed" to travel back in time when the scientists FINALLY get their website up and running to advertise it to the world. Sadly, the website was built on a PC/Windows computer and has been crashing on launch for over 15-yrs now.
You see, scientists have had this time travel capability for years. They've even shared SOME of that technology with Universal Studios for their 'Back to the Future' ride, so we know it exists.
Unfortunately, because of bickering between the engineers of time travel, their marketing department and webmaster, it may be many years before we see it publicly. :(
P.S.: Universal Studios has filed a lawsuit barring the use of the words "Time Travel" or "Time Portal" which they trademarked. The NEW name for time travel device will be...
'Time Phase Shifter Thingy 3000"
(Don't ask, it was the Marketing Department's idea)
:)

frankly,i don't think they will but that won't stop people from doing it(illegally or otherwise). The main reason why will be against it?I magine everybody going back and changing every thing they want in their past, correcting personal mistakes, etc.
The one thing people always forget is that individual actions ALWAYS affect the next person-whether they do it intentionally or not, whether they are aware of it or not!
So say,u were getting married tomorrow and someone goes back and changes something and one of the resulting chain reaction is that the person you're supposed to marry, ended up not being born at all,or met someone else-there's a million possibilities. But it's gonna be pretty chaotic, don't u think?
Some call this reaction-the Butterfly effect.

I don't think you can go back in time. The Scientist have nothing to do with it. It's a nice fantasy though.

Honestly, I don't think so. However,if we ever have the technology to do so, I doubt that the general public will know of it because too many people would try to go back and change the past (to make themselves richer or more successful).

I doubt that this will ever happen. If it did, don't you think we'd be seeing tourists or researchers from the 23rd century among us?
