Guess you've heard half a story, and not even right either. This is the story behind the "Lake of Women" (not tribe), and the place is called Mamberamo (3 x M):

Lake of Women. Story goes that there is a lake somewhere in the Mamberamo region where men are forbidden to go. Some say that the women here reproduce by mating with dogs and if a baby boy is born he is abandoned in the forest. You heard that version?

Or the more realistic version according to a Kirikiri man, living nearby the Lake of Women:

A band of Indonesian crocodile poachers had been exploring lakes near Iau, few decades ago. Ahead of the poachers, word spread that they were an unruly bunch. Everyone who was living in a small hamlet on the lake's edge fled into the forest. An old woman, who was too feeble to walk, stayed behind and was sitting alone clutching a dog when the poachers sauntered into the hamlet. And that is why the Indonesians named the lake Lake of Women, and that is why the Indonesians (who look down upon the Papua) came up with the story of the women having sex with dogs.......

what is a pure female? no men? I recall seeing a documentary about them....the men hang outside the womens tribal village....ya....and now you want to go there and try to be the white cheif....ya....I saw that movie....right...and you get boiled in a huge pot and they have a big celebration.....hey....go for it buddy.
