Chevy is one of the marque names for GM and GM wouldn't sell it at all... Also Ford doesn't have the money to buy GM or even the other way around. As others have said, a Ford/GM merger would be nice to see.. but it's speculation more than anything... Ford will be going thru some very rough times in the near future... But sometimes companies need to be leaned out when demand isn't there (there is talk of bringing some of the european cars to the US market to excite people again... Or have some cars based on volvo)

Of course not, it would be all over the news. Theres no way GM would sell thier main nameplate to thier biggest rival. Ford is also in the most financial trouble of any manufacture and could not afford Chevy. GM sales have gone up 70% from last year, and the Saturn Aura should help make profits from the booming sedan market. (believe me, its one attractive car that no one expected). With Dieter Zeiche DiamlerChrysler should be able to turn itself around. Dont believe him, tell him Kia is buying Ford

Why on Earth would Ford want to buy a dying company such as Chevy? That would be the downfall of both companies. Not to mention the fact that the Chevy line is inferior to FORD!!

HAHAHAHAHA! Ford just posted the biggest loss in 14 years! They're looking to sell Jaguar, Aston-Martin, and whatever else they can. They have offered buyouts to 75000 union workers, and plan to cut the workforce by 45000. Bill Ford took a big gamble on backing and promoting homosexual marriage, and incurred the wrath of the American Families Association (AFA), who called for a nationwide boycott of Ford products. As all makers have had a decrease in sales, it's difficult to say how much of Ford's loss is due to the boycott. Ford has made some bad marketing decisions, like building the Ford GT. A beautiful, well-built high performance car, but at $165K a pop (if you can even buy one for MSRP), it's NOT going to butter Ford's bread. Ford buy GM? Only when pigs achieve aeronautical capabilities. The way I heard it, Walmart plans to buy Ford. LOL!

There was a rumor, quoted in Automotive news, that when the GM-Nissan-Renault talks were failing Ford and GM were in secret negotiations to form an alliance of their own. There were also rumors if GM declined the alliance, Ford was interested. None of these was proven true.
LOL, the reason Ford is failing is because of gay marriage... people are nuts!

No, Ford isn't buying anything. Maybe Ford is for sale. Rumor has it that Ghosn is interested in putting together a group to buy Ford.

Dude sure has balls to suggest that. GM is the largest vehicle manufacturer worldwide. GM would not sell their largest division to a major competitor. Likewise, even though Ford may be having troubles (remember Chrysler's bankruptcy in the 80's), would not even sell to GM or Chrysler. Any of them would go bankrupt before they would sell out like that. Your buddy is just pulling your leg.

Not likely! While GM stock has spiked recently on news of a better quarter, GM chose to walk away from partnership discussions with Nissan/Renault.
Ford was mentioned as a possible North American ally for Nissan/Renault, but industry insiders generally disregard that speculation.
Both GM and Ford are sitting on nice stockpiles of cash, but it looks like they will need the cash to sustain their efforts to rebuild their brands. Unless both companies are able to shift their focus from "marketing" to "design-and-engineering", my guess is that one or both of them will go the way of the dinosaur.

No this is not true. Just the usual B. S. started by people on the internet that know nothing of what they speak of. Your buddy has fallen prey to the overly abundant ignorance spread arround the world by computers daily.
