Don't get me wrong. I think that it's great that there is someone who is willing to give a good home to a child who needs it. However, let's face it. Madonna is constantly reinventing herself so she can stay in the public eye. Don't you think it's possible that she knew that adopting a kid from Malawi would raise a storm of controversy?

Yes, I think Madonna's adoption is a publicity stunt because she wants to draw attention to herself and remain in the spotlight since her world tour didn't do so great. It is great that she is adopting a child and providing a loving home but why do you need to showcase and highlight the process in the media. She could have followed examples like Nicole Kidman and Meg Ryan who adopted children from another country but stayed out of the public eye. Madonna definitely knows what she is doing, she was even on Oprah.

What I have noticed with celebrities recently is the fact that they are either making babies or adopting them. Frankly, I think children/babies have become a fashion accessory. I'm not sure, but I was looking at a newscast which said that the biological father lost the some or all of the other children and wants his son back.
Madonna knew that the adoption would create controversy since she plays some role in the orphanage where the child was staying.

Me is sure yer not the only person on this planet who thinks this is some sort of publicity seeking scam on the part of Madonna. However, if me is not mistaken this baby's father is now saying he doesnt want to give up his child or some such thing. So, depending on how much $$ Madonna has thrown his way only time will tell

Why all the backlash at Madonna? Good Lord, at least she's doing something respectable with her fortune!! I think she is honestly trying to give a kid a life who otherwise would be dead. In the process, she's feeding her own nurturing instincts as well as bringing to light the plight of orphaned children in impoverished countries. I say give her a break!

I know what you mean. Even though it was a good jesture, it has such a phony feel to it. I thought my opinion would change after watching her on Oprah but the phony feelings did not go away.
