No you are not a liberal because you have opinions...you are thinking because you have opinions. As to your question as to whether political parties will evaporate from the landscape - unfortunately the answer is no. However, good news - the two party system we have all grown up to love or hate very well may be on its way out. There are simply to many issues and to many feelings wrapped up in those issues for any one party to speak to them. Does this mean that the American political system will devolve into some sort of chaos? Emphatically NOT - what it means is that more opinions will be represented by a smaller group of individual legislators. This may just be good for democracy and break the hold of the major parties who don't offer contrasting ideas any longer - as you say you can't tell who is who anymore. This meloncholy that you feel may also be the side effect of a erasure of the moderate voice from either party by extreme elements (the red state-blue state crowd).

I think there will always be "parties" but let's hope that the politicians have the freakin balls to say that they are "independant". At the last presidential election I didn't even bother to vote because I thought both Bush and Kerry were freaking IDIOTS!!

People will always lean either to the left or to the right, but hardly anyone is completely one way or the other. It sounds like you lean to the left except on the prayer in schools issue.

Political parties will be a thing of the past if we let the terrorists win.

Vote in November.

I am sorry to say that there will always be different parties. There are those that will always try their hardest to stick within the boundaries of their party. It is a good thing that they are agreeing, somewhat. That shows that we will always stick with each other through it all.
Good question!
