I'm not an expert on Idian food by any means, but Butter chicken is the most popular dish that I've heard of. It's chicken in kind of a red cream sauce, usually served over rice. I think the Indian name for it is something different, but if you order butter chicken most Indian restaurants know what you mean.

It's not eastern or western. There is northern cuisine or southern cuisine.I eat Indian every Sunday. Most Indian food has alot of different spices for one dish, coriander, turmeric, cumin. These are all roasted together to make one spice for just one dish. They don't eat beef or pork. You will mainly find goat(curry),chicken(Korma or BBQ Tandoori),and some seafood.
