4: Iron ships would not float.
5: Time Travel was and still is, declared as a science fictional dream &
6: Matter Transfer - the stuff of science fiction drama.
-1: On the other side of the coin, at around the turn of the last century, a senior officer of the London Patent Office declared (that he's soon be redundant as..) "everything that could be invented, has been."

Splitting the atom
Proving that rotten food doesn't spontaneously turn into flys, but that the rotten food draws flys to lay eggs which turn into flys. --People actually believed this until an English scientist did an experiment to disprove the long held idea.
There's lots of other things that science has proved that was thought impossible prior to their discovery.

The thing people use to think was the MOST impossible was flying, and we have accomplished that, right. Airplanes, helicopters fly everyday. In the future, I am sure the thing our generation believes to be impossible will be accomplished too.
