First of all they opened up the borders to Polish people and thought that only 30,000 people would migrate when in reality it was 400,000 and then they told us that they were going back into Afghanistan and were hoping for not a single shot to be fired when in reality the Taliban are gaining strength by the day. i think they spend too much time in their offices and cheuffeur driven cars claiming their fat cat expenses to know what's really going on.

The problem lies at the heart of the sort of person who is hired to make these decisions in government. Most are recruited from one place: Oxford university. These people tend to be very arrogant, snotty, dishonest, malevolent. What you find is that even sadder, often they come from just one or two colleges there (all old mates from school). When you draw your key people from such a small group, you are going to get what psychologists call 'group think': everyone thinking the same thing. And that just leaves you blinkered to other interpretations of events and is why they seem to be clueless as to what is happening in the world.

Same goes for Cameron, he is not that old but doesn't seam to have ever lived in the real world. A leader of the people, for the people I reckon!

This government is poor at everything, our house prices are sky high because Brown has taxed the pension funds to death, the streets are no longer safe, the health service is at breaking point, the place is full of immigrants - many illegal - and still the MPs claim massive allowances while Blair lies to us and treats us as idiots.

I don't think they care as long as they and their friends snouts are buried in the troughs, making as much money as they can they don't give a damn about the country or the people - after all Blair and his horrible wife will be able to move abroad and leave the mess behind them! Whilst the rest of us work till we die they have very fat pensions paid for by us!

First things first, (not the other way round) the Government will never get it right because they've always known how to do it the wrong way. But! They are trying their best even if they can't do the easiest thing 'Predict the Future.'

Margaret Thatcher fired all the government fortunetellers and soothsayers to save some cash. Now the gov. has to go without magical future knowledge just like the rest of us.
BTW, no one seemed to mind when Polish pilots helped the English during WWII. What do you have against Poles? Are you some kind of bigot?

I dont think anyone can actually "predict the future" but I agree the government seem to have relied on hindsight more than they should be allowed to

It is not just the future they have the problem with, it is a case of the past mistakes of various kings, queens and governments not being learnt. Perhaps it is too difficult for them.
