been assigned by myboss to find the best PDA but I am new at them. I heard Blackberries can't use WI-FI technology but others can....any information would be helpful.

OK, there are only 2 questions that need to be asked about any wireless device.

a. Does it have good reception in "all" your areas of travel.
b. Does it do what "you" need it to do.

If E-Mail is primarily important Blackberries do e-mail second to none.

If you need the full keyboard but also a good size screen. Then I would be looking at a hip top.

Handwritting regognition, use Word and Excel "a lot" on the go. I would go towards a Windows Mobil Device.

Are you a doctor or lawer or work for a company with specialized software then the Palm Trio is worth considering.

Nokia and Motorola also have other options, that you can consider.

In short find one that is right for you.

It depends, but BlackBerry is currently the most stable product out there. You never hear BlackBerry users complain about the constant freezing and crashes Windows Mobile users often rant about. The next generation of BlackBerry's (the 8800s) that will be coming to market will have full QWERTY along with a camera, and Wi-Fi.

I would suggest using a PDA with Wi-Fi. Blackberrys are more specific to mobile email. If you get a Wi-Fi PDA, you can many other things along with email, such as scheduling, contacts and much more.

All Blackberries can do is push email (think IM activity through email service) nothing else since it is closed platform. Palm/Windows Mobile is much better in any other task you can come up with because they are open platforms to accept custom programs and hardware expansions.

Palm 5 excels at multimedia while Windows Mobile for office work.
