Has anyone ever used SecurSurf from http://www.securstar.com
If yes, how's it? Could it give me complete anonymity EVEN from my local ISP? Does it support Instant Messaging Clients for instance Yahoo! Messenger too? Or could you suggest me a better product? Please help. Thanks.

On the contrary, it is just a program that is simply a proxy setter. It uses proxy servers and routes the information through them first.
You'd be surprised, though... proxy servers do make you anonymous. Even to your ISP. Usually software like this supports messaging clients, but be careful with them.
Their "anonymous tunnel" or whatever is just a lie... it's an enhanced proxy server browser. You can get these for free.

HOW A PROXY SERVER WORKS:

Your Computer
| Data is sent in an encrypted form
| through the program.
Your ISP
| Your ISP can't understand this
| info, but sends through anyways.
Proxy Server
| The proxy server recieves this information
| and sends it away in an unencryped form.
PS's ISP
| The info is sent to the Proxy Server's ISP,
| then the return info is sent back. They
| think the proxy server's user is browsing and
| is asking for the content (they never even come
| in contact with you or your ISP.)
Proxy Server
| The info recieved from the PS's ISP is encrypted
| again and sent away.
Your ISP
| Your ISP gets the encrypted info
| and routes it to you.
Your Computer
You get the information, the program unencryps it, and sends it to your browser.

That url points to a server in Michigan. While it may well hide your tracks from any sites you hit, if you're up to no good they would provide any details on sessions on their system if presented with a subpoena or court order.

There is NO true anonymity on the web. Any session can be tracked if they're out to get you.

You can't be anonymous to your ISP. Your internet packets have to go through them to get to you.
