Count your blessings! You've made it passed the hardest part --- obtaining alian relative status. Now you have to wait until the interview is schedualed. Forget about a lawyer; the interview for a green card is easy as hell.

I think what he needs is a permanent resident visa. I don't know if the immigration will give him something temporarily so that he can work while the application is in process. Go the local immigration office and file an application and ask al the question you have. Make sure to bring all documents including your marriage license and your own birth certificate. Try going to their web site and see what is required.

Congratulations. As long as he is here, and he has not past issues, everything is pretty straightforward that you can do it yourself. Otherwise, an Immigration Attorney can do it for you, though the probably charge anywhere from 2-4 grand.
If on your own, file I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131 and G-325 plus all supporting documents
But that is just what i hear, not legal advice

Just follow the instructions and wait, if you got permission to get married before coming to America, then it will go quicker, if you just decided to get married and then deal with immigration, it will take longer, and they will watch you.
Probably will take 3 months, but it depends on what state you are in, could only take 2 weeks in some states.
