The first REALY successful Video Game system that could play more than one game was the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). I know the Atari was before it, but the NES had better games and the NES lasted longer (and then evolved into the Super NES)

Pong. One of the best games systems that was released early (1981) was the Mattel Intellivision. The controller had a face plate that was interchangeable with each game that gave you real control. Such as the baseball game, the face plate was a picture of the baseball diamond. Just push first base to throw there, ect....

I believe Atari with Pong. Followed shortly by games like HauntedHouse(?), Riverraid, Attack of the killer Beefsteak tomatos. But I am NOT positive on this.

Well, it probably played Pong - my brother had a console that played Pong & also came with wired guns, to shoot blobs. Think it played about 4 games in total - all hardcoded - no disks or other replaceable media.
REALLY basic.
I was playing Elite on a BBC B home computer at the time & that was FAR superior :-)
About 1982. Simpler times :-)

I believe it was called the Odyessy put out by Magnovox. It was released in 1972, three years prior to the release of the Atari, which featured the ever popular PONG.

Pong, atari or intellivision. I remember my neighbors had their intellivion system before I got my atari. Was pong an actual game console or just an atari game? I'm dating myself, i can't remember! lol
