1lb = 450g *5/3 = 750g
1pt = 570ml * 5/3 = 950ml
6oz = 175g * 5/3 = 285g
Near enough.

One pound is equal to 454 grams.
As you want the recipe for 5 people not three:

Divide 454 by 3 and multiply answer by 5

= 151 x 5 = 755 gm (750 gm will be fine) . This applies to the sausage and onions.

1 oz is about 28 grams.

The 6 oz of mushrooms for 3 people = 2 oz each.

Therefore for 5 it will be 10 oz.

10 oz x 28 gm = 280 gm of mushrooms.

1 pint (either US or Imperial) is near enough 500 ml or 1/2 a litre.

For five people:
In short: Sausage = 750 gm
Onions = 750 gm
Mushrooms = 280 gm
Wine = 850 ml

Enjoy !

answer:

from chambers six-figure mathematical tables:

1lb=0.453592 kg = 453.6gm
>>>>> 6oz= 170.1gm
1pt= 0.568245 litres

therefore,recipe becomes

453.6gm of pork sausages
453.6gm of small button unions
0.568 ml of red wine
170gm of mushrooms

if you need it for five people,multiply
the above numbers by five,then divide by three

i hope that this helps

Go to the link below to convert all of the imperial units into metric, then take the resulting values and multiply each by 5/3, to convert from serves 3 to serves 5.

OK, I would simply doulble the recipe. (Make it for 6 instead of 5. That way, if someone wants an extra bite or two, they can have it! :) )

1 lb, lbs = 453.592 37 gram
1 ounce = 28.349 523 125 gram
1 pint [US, liquid] = 473.176 475 milliliter

So... 2 lb pork sausage = (roughly) 907.18g
2 lb onion = 907.18 g
2 pt red wine = 946.35 ml
12 oz. mushrooms = 340.19 g

This should be easy to work out. for 5 use 10 sausages (2 each + 2 for those who may want more) 500 gr mushrooms (I would be tempted to use more!), and a bottle of red wine 75cl. You don't have to be exact !!

Hi, I expect you've already got the answer ... it seemed to take me ages to work out, lol.

1lb is 0.45kg
6oz is 170.097g
1 pint is 0.473 litres

then you divide by 3 & multiply by 5 ... so I make the recipe:

0.75kg pork sausages
0.75 kg small button onions
0.7883 litres red wine
283.5 g of mushrooms

I'm sure that's right ... it's not going to be far off anyway.

Good luck with your meal.

You could like the many people above find a conversion site or you could try at the back of very good cook books. And when you do write a whole chart up with all conversions if you do a lot of cooking. And put it in a safe place like on the back of a cuboard door or at the back on a cookery book. Who knows what you could do???

This may be a little strange but I've found this conversion calculator helpful on several occasions... You just have to look at each box until you find the one helpful to you and type in the numbers and it'll convert it.
Go to:

Have fun too.

rule of thumb conversions will do I kilo = 2.2 lbs,
1 litre = 2.2 pints Most chefs just guesstimate their quantities anyway!
