Do you think that the left's use of human sheilds like the Jersey Girls and MJ Fox to deflect criticism is a symptom that the general population can be counted on to use more emotion than logic when voting at the polls?

Absolutely! Politicians using political pawns is extremely unethical and we should hold our representatives accountable for their actions.

Yes, because, the research that can help MJ Fox is already legal, The emotion that he is bringing to the forefront here would allow human cloning and, embryonic stem cell research(which CAUSES tumors).

And on the side when did Americans start having to vote for someone based on the politicians beleifs, instead of a politician who will vote on what the citizens want????

Yes, emotion is used more than logic to get people to the polls but the fact is, emotion serves to get people to the polls, and works better than logic. The thing in America is that most people have their minds made up whether they are Democrat, Republican or other. A politician's main goal is not to get people on their side. It is to rally people to actually get them to go out and vote. If emotion works, then why not use it?

It just shows how powerful Television can be. Both sides use television ads to manipulate voters. The people running campaigns (for any political party) know that a 30 second or 60 second sound bite can prove to be very powerful even if it is only a half truth or not really true at all.

It has been done time and again by both sides on various issues. Michael J. Fox chooses to do this, so don't think he is a victim. He even states in his book that he purposely doesn't take medications when he is going to represent the stem cell research in a public forum. This garners greater sympathy and thus support for them.
