I know the biggest factor to consider is getting your folic acid built up. Recommended amount is 400 mg /day. These are your best sources:

1/2 cup cooked lentils: 179 mcg

• 1 cup boiled collard greens: 177 mcg

• 1/2 cup canned chickpeas: 141 mcg

• 1 medium papaya: 115 mcg

• 1 cup cooked frozen peas: 94 mcg

• 4 spears steamed or boiled asparagus: 88 mcg

• 1/2 cup steamed broccoli: 52 mcg

• 1 cup strawberries: 40 mcg

• 1 medium orange: 39 mcg

So add these foods, and take any multi-vitamin you can stomach. Good luck!

Have you tried taking the prenatal vitamins at night before you go to bed. I know of a couple of my friends that did that because the vitamins made them sick and it helped them. Otherwise just eat healthy and exercise normally.

i know they do make you feel a little sick but maybe you can ask your doctor for something for the nausea...or maybe she can think of another kind of vitamin that would be good for you to take...you might also try eating a few crackers before you get out of bed...and after you take your vitamins...prenatal vitamins i believe are important but i have heard of healthy babies born without the mother taking prenatal vitamins...just try to eat a very well balanced meal....but i would ask the doctor about this just to be sure.....

I had trouble with prenatal vitamins, too, but my doctor said they really were the best. I started to take them in the evening with a snack and tried to relax on the couch for at tleast a half hour after taking them and it seemed to help. Ask you Dr if he reccomends anything else.

Don't worry about the baby. He or she can get enough nutrients from you. But, you should make sure that you eat or drink enought calcium so that your bones don't suffer from the pregnancy. Also eat lots of fruits, veggies, and lean meat. But stay away from deli meat. I am pregnant and just read that it is dangerous to eat deli meat because it can harbor certain kinds of bacteria unless it is heated up. Good luck! God bless.
