Tell me, when you walk on the streets and when there isn't someone besides you, doesn't that moment seemes to be so endless?
Or, have you ever open the window in the middle of the night, after you had earlier tried unsuccessfully to fall asleep?
When you hit the "wall of loneliness" without knowing someone to talk to about your profound sadness, without hearing a sweet voice, without having the chance to hang of something
you begin to realise how hard is to be alone for the rest of your life. And what would you do? You begin to search a soul- mate. Thats why peple get togeter. But why do they get married if almost all the marriages are ending in a sadly way? You write a verry interesting question. Yes, in our days marriages are so superficial. There remains little understanding beteen a women and a man, but probably it never was....So, in the end, why do we actually get married ? Thats mainly because we all hope to be one of the lucky few -I am reffering to that persons which are geting old and still remain besides their other half, no matter what ( there are some other "economichal" reasons. Very often the ones which counts the most) .
But the greatest reward of a marriage is undoubtelly the next one - you can have the chance to got yourself a friend like no other. Its like the lottery.... Soetimes, yes, in a very few occasions some lucky fellow "hit the Jack pot"....and became an old person who takes a walk with his wife / husband on the streets where someone else, is walking alone, just wondering....."why the peop....".
Hope that this answer will help you some how....
Take care at yourself.....

like you say people have an unrealistic view of marriage it's not all love and butterflies, its good times and bad. Too many go into a marriage with the attitude if things don't go my way then I can get a divorce . . more people should go into a marriage with the attitude that this is a commitment for Life and take the good times and bad times learning from the experience . . less would get married but less would get divorced too.

If you married the right person your marriage can be a fairy tale. Some people have to get married and divorced a couple times or once to find there soul mate. We learn by our mistakes and our past marriages what not to do again.

Some people don't understand that marriage is a sexual, business, and spiritual partnership. They think it is about sex and attraction, not commitment.
People are human and they make mistakes. How the other person responds depends on 3 things: 1) whether or not he or she is adult enough to realize the mistake was about the other person, not the one harmed, 2) whether the person who made the mistake understand what happened and is full or contrition, or doesn't care and intends to do it again, and 3) whether one or both partners is willing to put their feelings about the matter aside for the children/

People hold on to this idiotic belief b/c it's what was fed to them from day one. We "as Women" were brainwashed with the whole princess and prince coming to save you on a white horse" crap. It's idealistic and believing it is better than dealing with the everyday problems that marriages and commited relationship are known to have. The quicker we drop that belief that all should be perfect in a marriage, the quicker we will start to communicate. I find that 99% of my marrital issues can be solved thru communication. It's amazing what talking can do!

It's the cinderella syndrome. We are spoon fed the fantasy from birth that the perfect relationship will save us from all the bad things in life. Some people learn that fairytales are just fantasy, some don't.

How boring your first scenario is. Most people experience arguments over something and if you are mature you learn how to compromise. Life is not a one sided affair, it is a road of give and take.
