I wish I knew how old you are. Basically if you have loads and loads of money any place is good, same with florida. Florida for a young person is terrible and by young I mean 18 all the way till 50. If you are retiring and absolutely cannot deal with the cold and florida is your only option, go ahead move. Your kids would not be happy campers though. I came to Daytona 3 years back and I cant take it anymore. So I am moving.

LOL LOL sorry I love the first answer about being 60 something to move to Florida. I moved to Florida in 1992 and I was born in 1961, so I don't think I'm anywhere near 60. I love it here, I came from Maryland and found the summers here about the same, hot and humid, but I get a nice breeze from the ocean, and I'm not on the beach, about 40 min away by car. Depending on your circumstances, you can be a "snowbird", winters in Florida summers up north. But you can survive summers here, they aren't that bad, and if you live here year round, you may find yourself actually getting chilly when the winter temps get in the upper 60's to low 70's. I hope this help, Best Regards KG

I moved to Florida when I was 13 years old, and at first I didn't like it because I had to go to a new school, and meet new friends. But then when I got all settled in, it was awesome. The weather is great and it's so pretty down there. Plus, before I moved there, I live in NOWHERE, Ohio, where there was nothing to do. In Florida, I never had a dull moment because everything fun is so close. Then, my parents decided that they wanted to move back to Ohio. That's where I am now, and I miss Florida sooo much. I wish I would have stayed there, Ohio is crap compared to Florida. When I graduate, that's where I'm moving back to. It's THE BEST!

Anybody who tells you that Florida is for old people and it cost a lot of money to live there is talking out of their butt. I have lived in Florida all of my life except for the 6 months I lived in Texas, and 4 years in Illinois. I have been all over the country and I can honestly tell you that Florida is the place to be. There is no state income tax, taxes are low, you don't have to pay personal property tax every year.
There is something for everybody in Florida. Come down and visit and you will like it. I live in North Florida right outside of Jacksonville in a little town that borders Georgia. It is going to be 80 degrees this week and I have to run my air conditioner. I just moved from Illinois two weeks ago. In Illinois where I lived it is 46 degrees and feels like 39 degrees right now. You think I miss Illinois? And do you think I have anything negative to say about Florida right now?

I would love to move to Florida for the winter also. Unfortunately, I would have to move back to New England for the summer, as I would probably die in Florida in August! (or else I would never leave my air conditioned house)

If you can put up with the heat of the summer, I would think it would be worth it to get out of the cold during the winter months!

Good luck with your decision.

I think I would find somewhere else to move besides Florida. Have you spent much time there? I have never been around more crummy acting people than in Florida. Most are not originally from Florida, so they don't have their own identity. So it is a melting pot of people from many other places, which creates crummy acting people. Sure the weather is nice in the winter, but talk about crowded. Go to South Texas, go to California, it is beautiful there and the people are real nice. Go to Mexico, it is cheap to live there and they would love to have you.

Honestly before you move to FL make sure you have a job lined up. My friend a few years ago moved to FL for that very same reason and actually ended up moving back to NY within a year saying that jobs are so scarce and underwaged down there she could barely afford to pay her rent every month.

You would miss the cold and the season changes but if you are older (like 60+) then I am sure you would like it in Florida. If you are just looking for heat and are younger try Arizona or Nevada or anything other than Florida. If you do decide on Florida- get your Speedo ready.
