Relatively few! Most of what I get in the post is bills and bumph, very little of it is letters from people.
A PO box is a separation unless you live in Kenya or some such place where everyone has them, it suggests you don't trust people. What is your fear if you give your true postal address?
You could try looking for penpals. You need to be careful if you are wanting to avoid agencies which are really just dating agencies with a penpal mask. See if you can get anywhere with these:

We use post office boxes where I live cause there is no home delivery, it is a very rural area.
