I am a single mom of twins. Their father called me last night and told me that he wanted to give up his rights to them, sign the rights completely over to me. I'm lost on how to go about doing this. Any help would be great. I living in Florida, he lives in Illinois.

I forgot to add that he does have a court order to pay child support, but he doesn't pay it. I really don't need his money..I've been managing on my own for 2 year now.

Talk to an attorney and have them draw up the papers.

I dont think he can do that because if he does he wont have to pay child support and the court will not allow that. Cant just say nope dont want them, he has to pay child support, the only way to do that is if you remarry and your new husband adopts the children.

The only reason you should let him sign away his rights is if you have a husband now that you want to have adopt them.
If you agree to him giving up custody then he does not have to pay child support to you any more.

Is he just trying to give up child support ??? If he loses his rights , he does not have to pay child support in some states . Look out for this trap !!!
