I was horrified to hear today that the BBC spent 8 Million Pounds making the new Robin Hood series, how on earth can they justify this?
The second part of my question is what did they spend it on?

A friend of mine just started at the Beeb and she says it is absolutely mind boggling how many folk work there and do sweet F.A. I rarely watch the BBC1 and have never seen the new Robin Hood series either, I have council telly and not all the digital channels.....why should we pay the same fee?? Who pays for BBC America? What about this new BBC Farsi channel for Iran specifically, whats going on there?? We need some shocking exposes on the Beeb, does anyone on here work for C4??

Haha, you think thats abuse.

The small sequences of CG hippos swimming in a circle and the motor cycle riders going around in a circle cost the BBC a cool £5 million, when they produced these they were also busy laying off staff. If it wasn't for the BBC TV would be free!

As for what did they spend the 8 million on...if they can blow 5 on CG hippos doing synchronised swimming then they could easily blow 8 on paying the chickens that appear in the background of some villages by classing them as 'extras'

Its abuse alright!

You're right. They should spend it on I'm A Big Brother Dancing Nobody, Get Me Out of Here On Ice Factor show, or something that people actually watch.

No, I'm only joking - £8 million on a new (?) drama will probably easily be recouped when they sell the show abroad - the Yanks love that Olde Englande crap.

It's not to my taste, but then, not much on TV is.

I don't know if it is or not. 16 million dollars isn't a whole lot for a network to spend on a series in the US. Funny thing is that many of your series are higher quality. US series do tend to be longer though. Here the actors and crew salaries run very high.

Yes this is abuse of power, not everyone wants to watch such puerile drivel, I only saw a bit of it before i lost the will to live, i mainly watch sky, better programmes, more choice.
As for the second part, they probably spent it on themselves, meetings, lunches etc.

i would say that the money will probably prove to be well spent the BBC earns huge ammounts on the sale of its productions around the world and with video/dvd sales
