Currently, that depends on where you live. I live in Chicago, and it is not only very possible to live without a car, but many people do. In the city, it's much, much easier and cheaper to just use the trains & buses-- they make you pay through the nose for a car. What allows people to do this is public transportation. Ours still has so much improvement that needs to be done, but it's better than what we had in my old hometowns of Cleveland and Columbus, OH. In Cleveland the public transportation seemed a bit better, but it still wasn't very widely accessible nor frequent enough. In some states, even in major cities, you simply need a car to get around them until a great demand for p.t. is made and met.

i've got actual executed the two. What sucks approximately doing merely the vehicle undertaking is whether you have a activity, you will possibly want some form of mailing handle, drowsing sucks, theres no alarm clock, no longer something to do yet hear to the radio. on the different, what sucks approximately no longer having a vehicle is that whether you have a activity it woudl require a vehicle. This subject would properly be resolved nevertheless in case you reside close by and are interior strolling distance. Having a house with television, bathe, privateness, and a place to "initiate" is lots extra effective than residing out of your vehicle reason you will possibly desire to discover a house besides. So do away with the vehicle and discover something interior the area. I have been given a DWI awhile in the past and characteristic been with no vehicle for a pair years, you get used to it reason human beings provide you rides and you keep a great deal of money from coverage and gasoline, using a bike feels lots extra effective. on the same time as quickly as I had my vehicle returned then, I didnt do lots with it. i ought to have used a bike to bypass down the line for a pizza. So in different words, you will definately have the flexibility to improvise in case you dont have a vehicle so bypass with that decision. Its particularly confusing to sleep in a vehicle. And besides you are able to consistently use a acquaintances vehicle to get to a activity in case you additionally could make that association.

Ideally, I would like to. Right now, I live far from my job and need to have one. Public transportation is not so good around here. I would love to live in a urban area where everything is close together and I could walk to work and not have to pay for gasoline, car insurance, etc. So to answer your question, No I could not live without a car in my current situation, but I would love it if I didn't have to own one.

I use to have a car and now am dependant on the Bus System, but its a great feeling not to have to pay for gas, insurance, mechanic fee's and car parts, or car taxes. I think for some of the older folks it may be more adaptable but for most younger folks it would be more difficult for them to give driving and their independance up.

Instead of 'going back' to electric cars, how about 'going forward' to electric cars? Technology hasn't stood still, you know.
*
Here are a few examples of where the electric car future will be taking us. There's the Tesla electric sports car - it does 0 to 60 in under 4 seconds.

*
The Tesla is too expensive, so how about this car:

*
Here's an electric car that can charge in 20 minutes:

And this page talks about electric car conversions you can drive for as little as $5000.

Sure, I could. That is a wonderful yet unlikely goal.

An alternative lifestyle is a healthy active one; walking, jogging, running, cycling, skateboarding, rollerblading... simple.

YOU CAN REPAIR A CAR WHEN IT BREAKS DOWN, AND YES
IT'S COSTLY, BUT CAN YOU REPLACE YOUR FEET WHEN
THEY BREAK DOWN??? THAT WOULD BE MORE COSTLY.
MAYBE WE COULD GO BACK IN TIME AND USE THAT OLD
"FLINTSTONE-MODEL", YOU KNOW THE ONE WHERE YOU
GET IN YOUR CAR AND THERE'S A SPACE UNDERNEATH
WHERE YOUR FEET COME OUT AND YOU TAKE OFF!!!

JUST KIDDING, YOU KNOW THAT THEY CAN MAKE CARS
THAT CAN RUN ON WATER BUT THEY WON'T??? WHY???
BECAUSE "CASH" IS "KING" IN THIS WORLD AND "OIL"
BUT YOU DO HAVE A GOOD POINT.............

Sure I could, and so could everyone else. You can look for alternatives, while I saddle up. My horse's "emissions" fertilize my garden, my hay feeds my horse, so what's your problem with horses? I've seen some comfy wagons, and buggies, if saddling up isn't your thing.
