I would still have my baby. God creates new life, and each life can be a blessing somehow even if we can't see it now.

Don't know that I'd abort out of concern for the cost to the health care system. Loads of people are treated at great expense who have little or no expectation of successful extension of their life.
I asked the same question and am surprised at the different answers, so far. Severe birth defects? I'd have to have absolute certain proof of it and since they can't guarantee those findings- sometimes tests are wrong- until the pregnancy is advanced into the 2nd trimester, I would continue the pregnancy.
Abortion that late in the game is brutal and utterly devastating, IMO and I've only watched and read how the procedure is done on the net.
As for those twins, they aren't out of the woods, yet. Their odds of making it are pretty low. I sure wouldn't want to be in their mother's shoes. Pregnant with 1 at a time is hard on me.

All things happen for SOME reason - even if we can't understand it. My brother was born with severe defects - and ended up dying at 14 months. It was hard on everyone. But, that little boy touched so many people's lives with his smile, his obvious determination and pureness of his spirit. I know healthy people who live to 99 that will never have the impact that little boy had. Now, if my momma would have aborted him, none of our lives would have been the same. And we never would have known the joy of holding that beautiful boy. Get people to lose weight, quit smoking and stop having unprotected sex - then you'll see a difference to the health care dollars.
Also, to those who think it saves suffering for the child - research what abortion is - it's terminating the life of a baby. The methods are FAR from humane. Suffering will be a guarantee!!!

That would be hard - I mean to have a child with birth defect like conjoined twins-wow
But they are humans-you cant put a price on lives. As long as its not an health issue with the mommy I wouldn't abort a child just because he-she may have problems.
Do you think if your parents knew that you wouldn't turn out to be Doctor or had a receating hair line or something like this they wouldnt want you to have entered the world.
I just know if it was the child God gave me I wouldnt send it back because it wasnt what I had in mind or it was going to cost to much to keep.

depends on how bad it was, if nothing major was connected and it was just a layer of skin then i wouldnt but if it was severe and neither would be able to live a healthy life then yes i would abort because i feel like its selfish to bring a child or children into the world if they have no chance at a life. if there was no way to know until birth how bad it was that would be hard to decide and im really not sure what id do. god bless and good luck to that couple

I guess it depends on the "defect" what I would actually do. In a case like conjoined twins where separation is possible and they have a chance at living a semi normal and healthy life I probably would not abort.

I'm so sorry about this, but yes I would still have the babies, they deserve a chance at life, they can get separated hopefully. If I had a child that was going to be born with down syndrome or another disease, I would terminate the pregnancy.

No. I would not want to see my baby suffer. That is so cruel. If it was a fixable handicap or something that they could offer therapy for, like a leg deformity of Down syndrome, of course I'd have the baby. I would not want to have a child that would only suffer after birth and live a short few hours or days in terrible pain from a devastating handicap though. That is so very inhumane to me.

That's a really tough question. For me, it would really depend on how BAD the defect was. I mean were those twins only joined at the stomach and each had their own organs? Because it would be rather simple to seperate them. Or where they joined in such a way that life would be harsh and success of seperation low? I think that would be hard to tell until after birth though.
Gosh, I think it's one of those things you really can't decide upon until you're actually going through it yourself, you know?

Children are an amazing gift even those with health problems. We don't always get to pick the package our gifts come in. I have three children and one has allot of health problems. I could not imagine my day without this bright beautiful little boy in it. Part of receiving a gift is the lesson on how to receive it and be grateful for it. For me abortion would simply not be an option.

I wouldn't, but I don't know if I would have felt the same way before I got pregnant. When you actually get pregnant, you see the value in life more, and you realize that you love the baby no matter what. Before I got pregnant I was pro-choice. I am totally pro-life now that I have my son and see what abortion kills.
