It is based in his Kenyan homeland and basically sells dried, salted fish. I am a bit unsure about the whole idea, but one day he'll be the tribal chief and I could be his wife so it would be an investment in my future. Am I nuts? Or is this a once in a lifetime opportunity? Has anyone done anything similar?

DON'T DO IT!!!! It's a very bad idea to get involved financially with a boyfriend, no marriage ties. Unless you sign a contract about how he is going to repay you, and he does need to repay you, what will happen is he'll get your money and you won't see him again. And even if he does become the tribal chief, the tribes in Africa don't have any kind of wealth, it is just a figurehead title, so not really an investment in your future. Sad to say, but the men from Africa that I know, they only care about money and getting it any way they can, not about the people they get it from, girlfriend or not. How long have you been together? See how he responds to you when you tell him you don't feel good about it. You can get some answers about how risky it is by doing that.

Key word in your question is NEW as in new boyfriend. Just because he has an idea-good or bad doesn't mean you have to invest in it. Let him find his own investments. Can't he take out a business loan? If he can't then I wouldn't invest in him anyway. If he can problem solved. Its your finances to keep yourself secure. Keep it secure. When he is not a NEW boyfriend anymore then maybe think about it. Do you even know anything about the business? Are you a business person with business sense? Be sure if you do invest you know everything there is to know about the business including how the money is used and how much are the projected earnings. Also what will be your percentage of profit from the business. Think long and hard. Good Luck

Playing on Women's Emotions Scam # 137.

Run for your life.

You will *never*, EVER see that money again.

Men wanting to start a business who resort to begging a new girlfriend for investment capital are among the worst snakes on the planet.

If he were a grown-up, he could get investment capital elsewhere. Loser and user, pure and simple.

As you rush out the door for the last time so the screen doesn't hit you on the way out, toss him a Small Business Administration (SBA) Loan pamphlet.

I think you would be absolutely nuts to go into this without seeing a lawyer or if only if you were made a equal partner in the business. even then too many people are falling into this kind of money making trap. Think long and hard, look for professional advise before handing any money over.Have you heard the saying "love is blind"?

Don't do it. You have no comeback if he dumps you, he is NOT yet tribal chief, and you are NOT yet his wife. You have no guarantees that you will ever see a penny back from this.

Besides, according to another of your questions, you just went £38K in debt buying gifts for a girlfriend who has now run off with someone else. I am assuming that either you have a very complex social life, or you are lying through your back teeth.

I wouldnt say your nuts, but I'd certainly wait & look into it further. For the fact you say "new" I wait wait till he is not so new & that see if its still a god idea. As for being a tribal chief... is that really the case or just what he has told you?

be careful

This sounds fishy to me. Have you met this person face to face? Or is a online B.S? Some unscrupouplos people pry on lonely women to scam them for money.... they make promises and you'll never hear ftom him again! Is as simper as to close your email account.

This is an elaborate scam... DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You say that he is you "new" boyfrind, so you don;t know this oerson very well, if he is you "new" boyfriond, and is aking for "ALL" your money, then he has ill intent that has nothing to do with having a romantic relationship, but rather a busiiness..

Wise up lady!

I would say NO. But you could call the bluff (if it is one) by going to a reputable Solicitors or the bank for advice and to draw up a contract for him to sign in case he runs off with your money - even then I think it would be unwise but in the end its your decision. Going off all the answers you have received it looks like NO, NO, NO - DON'T DO IT. Good luck.
