There is really not much to compare. One was a comedy and one was not. The only commonality was their respective war scenarios. Personally, I liked them both but for different reasons.

I remember watching Combat with my dad.
He was in Korea and had been at a MASH unit and he wasn't sure he'd like it because of memories and flashbacks, but once he started watching the show, he liked it.

I remember Combat, but didn't watch it much. Probably, my folks preferred a show on another channel. MASH was fantastic!

COMPARING APPLES AND ORANGES I THINK
ONE BEING A SHOOT EM UP WWII COMBAT SERIES THAT I WATCHED FAITHFULLY EVEN THOUGH WE ALL KNEW THE NEW GUY ON THE SHOW WAS GOING TO DIE IN SPITE OF VIC MORROW'S 1927A THOMPSON THAT MAGICALLY HAD A 6 MILLION ROUND CAPACITY
THE OTHER BEING A COMEDY STAGED IN 1950'S KOREA WITH A SERIOUS UNDERCURRENT OF MORALS BLENDED IN
BOTH WERE EXCELLENT (MASH BEING TRULY A WONDERFUL SERIES , COMBAT A GOOD FUN TO WATCH SERIES)

I was born in '65. I grew up with M*A*S*H. However if i remember correctly combat starred George Peppard, long before the A-Team. My personal fave was the Rat patrol. Why? Because America wins.

Combat was real serious.Mash was a great comedy. I'll never forget the episode when Henry Blake was killed in the plane crash. Radar did an outstanding job in that show.
