The HP 1018, 1020, or 1022 are the best selling and most reliable monochrome lasers out there. I know several people who swear by these machines. Definately look into these.

HP is the one that I would highly recommend. This make, as compared to all the others, make a mmuch superior printer than any of the others. Depending on whether you want it to be the best quality print, a normal printing, or just a simple fast print, you should be able to run around 5000 sheets before the cartrige will have to be replaced. The cartridge should cost you around $100 while the actual printer should cost you around $150. You should be able to buy it at either Best Buy, or, what I would highly suggest to you, Staples. The reason why I do suggest Staples to you is because they have an excellent reputation for service.

You will get about 3000-5000 pages from most new mono-lasers.
The most important factor is can you get refill toner for it. Some like the Konica-Monoltas, have a chip that limits the pages per toner cartrige.
Most toner cartriges are about 80-150 Canadian Dollars.
Also keep in mind that the drums usually need to be changed as well about every 50-75,000 pages and can that even be prlaced on your model or if it can can you even get one.
